Maïlys VALLADE

Férue de cinéma et d'effets spéciaux depuis mes très jeunes années, j'ai été initiée à la fabrication d'automates (ou animatroniques) et de décors en volume auprès de mon père. Dans la foulée je me suis plongée dans le dessin et la peinture, l'envie de créer un univers et des histoires autour de ces fabrications m'animait.

C'est donc assez naturellement, que je me suis orientée, dès le lycée, vers une spécialisation en Arts appliqués.

J'ai continué mes études en Arts graphiques à l'EPSAA, puis conception et réalisation de films d'animation aux Gobelins. J'y ai réalisé trois courts-métrage étudiants : l'hermite, Garuda et The lighthouse keeper (ces film ont remporté plusieurs prix dont le Crystal du meilleur film de fin d'étude au festival d'Annecy pour ce dernier)

J'ai commencé à travailler en 2010 sur des productions de longs-métrages d'animation comme Adama, le monde des souffles, pour lequel j'ai fait du développement visuel, Ernest et célestine sur lequel j'ai  animé, puis Le petit prince, Tout en haut du monde, Les hirondelles de Kaboul, un homme est mort, J'ai perdu mon corps, Calamity ou Séraphine sur lesquels j'ai principalement fait du Story-board, mais aussi le développement de décors, du layout ou de l'animation 2D. Je suis aussi Autrice graphique sur les films Itanésie, Calamity, Séraphine, Amélie et Fleur.

Amélie et la métaphysique des tubes est mon premier  long-métrage en tant que lead réalisatrice et scénariste aux côtés de Liane Cho Han.

J'oeuvre au sein d'un collectif d'artistes/ artisans, en association, dans un village au nord de Rennes.​

​

Je favorise le travail en équipe et les projets collectifs, qui oeuvrent dans le sens d'un certain engagement; La portée symbolique, politique et philosophique des sujets sur lesquels je travaille font partie de mes priorités.

Maïlys VALLADE (English version)

Passionate about cinema and special effects since my very young years, I was introduced to the manufacture of automatons (or animatronics) and volume sets with my dad. At the same time I immersed myself in drawing and painting, the desire to create a universe and stories around these creations motivated me.

 

It was therefore quite naturally that I moved, from high school, towards a specialization in Applied Arts. I continued my studies in Graphic Arts at EPSAA Superior school of paris, then in conception and directing of animation films at Gobelins in Paris too. ​I made three student short films there: "The Hermit", "Garuda" and "The Lighthouse Keeper"
(these films won several awards including the Crystal for best graduation film at the Annecy festival for the latter)

 

I started working in 2010 on animated independent feature film productions such as "Adama, the world of breaths", for which I did visual development, "Ernest and Célestine" on which I animated, then “The Little Prince”, “Longway North”, “The Swallows of Kabul”, “A Man is Dead”, “I Lost My Body”, “Calamity” or "Séraphine" on which I mainly did the Storyboard, but also the development of sets and characters, layout or 2D animation. I am also a graphic author on "Itanésie", "Calamity", "Séraphine", "Little Amélie" and "Fleur".

 

"LITTLE AMELIE", is my first feature film on which I am also Lead director, screenwriter and storyboarder alongside my co-director Liane cho Han.

 

I work within a collective of artists, in association, in a village north of Rennes, Brittany, FRANCE. ​

 

I favor teamwork and collective projects, which work towards a certain commitment; The symbolic and/or political, philosophical significance of the subjects on which I work are my priorities.
